Kenya: On the other hand, Kenya boasts several endemic bird species, including the Taita White-eye, Aberdare Cisticola, Taita Thrush, Tana River Cisticola, South Pare White-eye, Hinde’s Pied-Babbler, Williams’s Lark, Sharpe’s Longclaw, and Clarke’s Weaver. These unique species are just a few of the many reasons why birding in Kenya is so popular.


DR Congo: In contrast, the Democratic Republic of the Congo offers an incredible variety of endemic birds, such as Bedford’s Paradise Flycatcher, Congo Peacock, Itombwe Nightjar, Schouteden’s Swift, and Congo Bay-Owl. Additionally, species like Grauer’s Cuckoo-shrike, Kabobo Apalis, Congo Martin, and Yellow-crested Helmetshrike further enhance the birding experience. Other notable species include Prigogine’s Greenbul, Sassi’s Greenbul, Chapin’s Mountain Babbler, and Rockefeller’s Sunbird, among others.


Tanzania: Moving on to Tanzania, the country is home to a number of exceptional species like the Udzungwa Forest Partridge, Grey-breasted Spurfowl, Pemba Green Pigeon, Yellow-collared Lovebird, and Dark Batis. Furthermore, Tanzania features endemic birds such as the Uluguru Bush-shrike, Banded Green Sunbird, Moreau’s Sunbird, and Loveridge’s Sunbird. Other species like the Pemba Sunbird, Rufous-winged Sunbird, and Rufous-tailed Weaver can also be found, along with the Tanzanian Masked Weaver, Usambara Weaver, and Kipengere Canary.

Zambia: Zambia, though home to just one endemic species, the Orange-breasted Sunbird, still offers a rich and rewarding birding experience that is sure to captivate visitors.


Namibia: Similarly, Namibia has only one endemic bird species, but this doesn’t diminish the country’s allure for birdwatchers. The unique landscapes and diverse wildlife make it an exciting destination for nature lovers.

Rwanda: Although Rwanda does not have any endemic bird species, it is known for having the highest concentration of Albertine Rift Valley endemics, many of which are shared with Uganda, DR Congo, and Tanzania.
